I want to take this opportunity to thank you for the super job you did on blocking out the loud buzzing sound in our shipping area. Everyone here at Semiconductor Diagnostics is pleased that the noise level has noticeably diminished.

When the plans were drawn for an office at the Diesel Shop, no one knew how to solve the acoustical nightmare the trains posed for the office. Not only were the trains very loud, the vibrations were intense throughout the structure. We selected Acoustiblok and depended greatly on the their expertise to solve the noise problem. Not only did they calculate the correct amount of material, but suggested the areas to cover. When the material arrived, the contractors were skeptical it would work. We are all "Believers" now. Even the contractors are amazed with the effectiveness of Acoustiblok. We cannot hear the air handlers, much less the diesel trains. Needless to say, we will install Acoustiblok in our future projects. It really works!

Our experience with Acoustiblok was absolutely positive and even exceeded our expectations. This hospital project had a severe acoustic problem due to the fact that the only feasible location for the chilled water plants (90 tons each) of the A/C system is right next to the building, specifically 4 feet apart from the intern’s dormitories!!!!!

Once the chillers were installed, the owner discovered that the high pitch (very uncomfortable) noise produced by the rotary screw compressors went through the structural concrete walls like nothing, measuring up to 67 dBA inside the dorms and adjacent areas.

With just 3 weeks prior to the deadline, I recommended a perimeter acoustical barrier wall to deflect sound out of the hospital walls, the wall was simply made out of Sheetrock and a single layer of Acoustiblok, it only took a week to finish it and we obtained an impressive 20 dbA sound transmission loss in that same areas, now under

Previous installed walls in similar applications made out of concrete or concrete and Styrofoam cost more time and money and are only half as efficient as the Acoustiblok solution, I definitively recommend to give Acoustiblok a try, you´ll be impressed, just like us!!!

I recently purchased "Acoustiblok" for the purpose of reducing suspension and road noise in my 1999 Corvette Coupe. After reading an article in Corvette Fever Magazine about noise reduction using a product called "Koolmat" I decided to investigate. Koolmat appears to be an excellent product which comes precut making installation easy, however Koolmat is expensive, about $650.00 plus shipping.

Upon further investigation on the internet, I found Acoustiblok as an excellent alternative. The total cost is about $200.00, you will need about 45 to 50 square feet for the coupe. By using Acoustiblok I had to make patterns out of poster board for all of the pieces needed. Cuttings patterns was time consuming, but easy to do. I used 3M spray adhesive (yellow) to secure the pieces in place, just make sure to properly ventilate the work area.

The final result, my Corvette is much quieter and much more enjoyable for long drives, I can even hear the CD at 75 miles per hour. I am very pleased with the people at Acoutiblok who were very helpful with installation tips and shipment of the product.

Should you have any questions I would be happy to help my Corvette friends.

Acoustiblok Install

Just wanted to let you know that I installed your Acoustiblok product in the wheel wells of our 2004 Chevy Impala and both my wife and I are quite pleased with the results. Looking at several auto industry reviews on the Chevy Impala, about the only negative (and the most common) put forward by reviewers about the car was road noise. I can honestly say that your product has significantly improved upon that. I am glad I found out about Acoustiblok.

Acoustiblok Install

Dear Ms. Myers

Some time ago you supplied me two rolls of Acoustiblok which I used in the “media room” of the house I was constructing. It has been a long project getting (nearly) done with the house, and even longer getting my home theater equipment out of the boxes and set up, but I can tell you I am quite pleased with the results.

The house is a single level over a basement (unfinished), so there was no attempt to acoustically isolate the ceiling or the floor. There are several walls throughout the house that were built with double stud or offset stud framing, filled with fiberglass batts. This has provided some level of reference for comparision with the room with Acoustiblok, which also has the vertical drywall installed over resilient channel over the Acoustiblok.

Even with the sound cranked up, the room is remarkably quiet from adjacent rooms. The only weak links are the floor joists and the door, which even though an exterior grade solid oak door with a compression vinyl seal, "leaks" some sound. This room does a much better job at sound isolation than the other rooms with the only offset studs and fiberglass.

Appreciate your personal attention to getting this out to me quickly, and also for finding very economical freight shipping.

We have been in the custom audio/Video business for over 35 years, and for the last several years we have been using Acoustiblok in virtually all of our home theaters. We have found it a very significant benefit in stopping sound interference in the home or in the theater room.

Many of our theaters are over $200,000 and the last thing our client wants to hear is "...turn it down, the sound is going all over the house", or a neighbor complaining about the sound. This is a "win-win" for us and the client. The installation is simple and easily adapts to changes on site.

We have tried other systems which did help, but were extremely time consuming and complex. And of course, making a change or moving a wall using one of the suspended wall systems is all but impossible.

Please feel free to call us for personal experience references. It really does work well.

Acoustiblok Install

I live in an older hi-rise condo on Bayshore and, while the building is extremely well built, I have one contiguous wall with a neighbor where sound was "bleeding" through (in fact they could tell what TV program I was watching or radio station I was listening to - I'm the loud one).

After doing some research I decided to install Acoustiblok. A friend and I did it in one day. The product has exceeded my expectations and I now have a happy neighbor.

Thank you,
Susan from Tampa

My client came to me from one of our local builders living in a 2.5 million dollar home on the water. Everything was nice except with one exception, across the inlet was a train track.

Although this normally would not be a problem during the day, it became quite the nuisance at night because the train would come 2 to 3 times a night between the hours of 1:00 am to 5:00 am. Frustrated he called the builder and explained the problem. The builder suggested Hurricane proof windows, you know the ones with the thick glass, they have a very high STC rating 3 to 4 times that of a normal window. Now, although that helped a little, you could still hear the train in the background, and that's were Acoustiblok came in. Only living in the U.S. 6 months out of the yea, we decided to tear out the drywall on the entire top floor after applying the acoustiblok to the ceiling, walls and floors of the three bedrooms. Then reapplied the drywall, and to everybody's amazement the once annoying train noise was finally gone

Thanks Acoustiblok!

We installed the Acoustiblok a couple of months ago, in the course of a complete renovation of the bedroom of a man with autism ("Adam") who has hyper-sensitivities, especially to sound. The renovation included creating a private en suite bathroom. We put Acoustiblok inside the walls between his suite and the rest of the house, and in the ceiling of the rooms below his suite.

As well as the Acoustiblok, lots of mineral wool insulation was packed in. The walls and ceiling were relined with half-inch plaster board (not just drywall). And the door to the suite was replaced with a solid "Safe and Sound" type. Adam says Acoustiblok does provide more sound insulation. He has said that now "I sleep like a baby". (I note that if he is suffering a food reaction, he can still have some insomnia. But he is much less disturbed by external sounds).

Most sounds from inside his suite are hardly audible in the rest of the house. So, for the greater part of the time, when he is coping, others do not have to be disturbed. This promotes greater independence. For example, the filling of his bathtub cannot be heard outside his suite. This quality can create some challenges of its own. For example, when he is in distress and needs help. We have to address these challenges by other kinds of technology.

We had some constraints that may have limited the total effectiveness of the Acoustiblok installation here.

  1. As I reported to you, the larger roll was damaged in transit, some sharp handling equipment slashing through the first six linear feet of the roll. So the contractors who installed the Acoustiblok had to be a bit mean in stretching the rest to fit the space. They had to cut and splice the material more than we would have liked.
  2. No documentation, such as installation instructions, arrived with the material (presumably because of the damage in transit). So I printed out your excellent material from the Internet. I consider the contractors did a fair job of installation. I worked hard to educate them in the qualities and purposes of a product that was new for them. But I think that having good accompanying documentation would have made them understand more clearly how essential it is to thoroughly line the entire area, and to pay attention to soundproofing, light fixtures, receptacles etc.

On balance, we are very glad we installed Acoustiblok. I intend to recommend it to other agencies and families planning to build or retrofit living accommodation for people with extreme sensory challenges. Please keep me posted about any new information or other developments.

Acoustiblok Install

After discovering the Acoustiblok product I was immediately interested in installing it into our home theater that I was in the process of remodeling. In the existing basement area, the ceiling and three walls were already framed, insulated, and dry-walled. After studying the application methods recommended by Acoustiblok at the time, I was disappointed to see that there was really no elegant way to address soundproofing* "finished" walls.

I have used the Acoustiblok products for over a year now and my clients have been thrilled with its performance. Once you get used to the weight of the material, it is easy to install, cut and bend. With a little explanation of the process, I can even leave it up to the clients contractor to install. Definitely a good "bang for the buck" product.
